Sounds interesting..... We don't grow them here and it seems to be a veg. which you don't see in the shops, or is that just around here?

Argylie: I sometimes see them in the supermarket, but I'd never tried them before. Very nice taste to them.

We had a pal down south who grew them and always had too many so we used to have a great supply. I've thought about growing them here but understand they're very invasive and hard to get rid of if you change your mind.  ::)

I grew some last year and made creamed artichoke soup from them.  The gale-force after effects are unfortunate, but the soup is delicious.  I must try the curried soup with this year's crop.

Really, do, it's yumtastic.

I based it on a recipe in the Grown in Britain book, but added a little more veg and made my own 'curry' paste, rather than using a madras mix as suggested.

A winter warmer with a bite!
