Title: Trying to buy eggs.
Post by: NormandyMary on July 23, 2011, 20:08
I just cant believe it. Ive put wanted ads on 2 local ex-pat sites asking if anyone knew of a seller of free range eggs. As OH and I are on diets (and doing very well) we are getting through loads of eggs. I wanted to get local free range eggs rather than supermarket ones because of the flavour.
Now bearing in mind that I live in the north west of France, surrounded by countryside, farms and smallholdings, I havent had ONE reply. Im going to have to widen my search and perhaps go onto a couple of french small ad sites. We need a regular supply until we get our henhouse up and running again.

Dont anyone ever complain about having to clean out their chooks, or get up early to let them out. Believe me, when you havent got any, you SURE miss them.

Well, I have an excess of eggs, but you're just that little bit too far away!  ::) Hope you get your coop set up soon

You'd think there would be loads of chicken keepers in such a rural region - very odd Mary

There must be loads of locals with hens surely. Can't believe people have land and don't have a few chicks running round for an egg supply.

Hope you get your henhouse fox proofed soon and get some more girls  :)

It seems crazy doesn't it!  You would think there would be lots of people in that kind of area.  Perhaps they just don't read the freeads.  Is there a farmer's market nearby?  You might be able to get a contact there.

Hi NM,  have you tried www.leboncoin.fr ?  There are usually lots of ads for eggs, (well in my region ;) )

It is also a good place to look for chickens, and/or hatching eggs too (as well as everything else!)

Now I have moved, I am digging out the area for the chook house and run. Girls have been staying at my sisters with her 2. I miss the eggs. Don't shut them in as they don't like it.
