A sad sad day, I had to say goodbye to my beautiful marmalade main coon Murphy. He had been so brave - but I couldn't let him suffer.
I am so lucky to have had 11 wonderful years with this cat. But I am absolutely heartbroken.
Good bye my sweet beautiful Murphy.

Its awful when you have to finally say goodbye
I always read this poem when it happens, it makes them feel closer. I hope it gives you some comfort.
Do not stand on my grave and weep
I am not there I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints in the snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am a gentle Autumn rain
When you awaken in the morning hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
I am the birds in circled flight
I am the soft stars that shine at night
So do not stand on my grave and cry
I am not there.... I did not die.

Sorry to hear that Foxy. Takes a lot of guts to let them go. Well done for being brave yourself.
Have you thought about planting a tree or something as a memorial ?

So sorry Foxy, I dread losing my old cat, Holly. We discovered recently that not only is she completely deaf but she is now blind as well. She knows her way around so seems ok but it must be a scarey world without either sight or hearing. We carried her up to sleep on our bed last night as we felt so sorry for her but this morning, after I got up, she wandered very slowly down stairs alone...MOH watched her to check she made it and she did! I was worried because we sleep up on a mezzanine where she could easily walk off the edge but she obviously knows where the stairs are. She's over 15 but should have a few years in her yet so really hope she copes as we are renovating and her environment does keep changing although most of the time she just lies in front of the Aga, just moving for food or to use her dirt tray. It's sad though because unless we keep touching her, which startles her, don't think that she's even aware that we're around.
Big hugs, feel sure he had a good life with people who cared for him.

I am truly sorry for your loss. My Freddie is also a Main Coon and he is such a sweetie, he's the youngest of our three, so our baby. I hope you manage to deal with your grief knowing that you gave your friend the very best of lives.
All the very best, and a big hug coming over the channel to you.

So sorry to hear about Murphy... big hugs to you.
I lost my cat Tom last year to kidney problems and I still miss him, even though we now have 2 more cats.
There's always one that leaves special paw prints on your heart.
I love the following poem...
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Aw! Sorry to hear about Murphy, it's a hard decision, we had to have Ebony our beautiful GS Dog put to sleep just before Christmas and even though you know it's the only humane thing you can do it's an awful awful time.

We have just said a sad goodbye to our "Miss Attitude", who has just been taken away by our neighbour to be despatched. She has been poorly for a while now, though I thought she was perking up a bit yesterday. All morning, she didnt move and had her eyes closed, so I thought the time had come for the deed to be done. She was one of our first hens, quite a character, and will be sorely missed.

It is a month ago now that our Barney was killed by another dog, so I know how you are feeling about losing your lovely cat. Pets are such special things in our lives, my heart goes out to you.
