Title: Surprise...
Post by: Aidy on December 23, 2018, 17:37
But not the one you want so close to Christmas!
Arrived home last night to a smell of gas  ??? Phoned the gas peeps and the chap came and agreed there was a smell of gas but his sniffer didnt pick it up, he did the check on the meter and came in saying he has to turn it off and cap it as there is a significant gas leak.
Fortunately a mate was just passed his gas safe so we phoned him and he insisted on coming round, took a little to find it but we found it! His sniffer went off the scale.
I have added a photo of the section of pipe we cut out.
We had to alter the joist it was on as he said as we walked on the that part it was putting pressure on it.
We now have a normal supply of gas and Christmas dinner will be served.

OMG, that is really scary.   So much for the gas people

You can now take comfort knowing that you are all safe, and a meal will be served, along with a drink, I hope  :D  and one for your Mate  :D  Mrs Bouquet

The Gas man just went into the rooms looking for gas he wasnt looking for the leak, the leak was under the floor boards, as we had the windows open and the front door open at the time Steve (2nd gas man) said thats probably why he didnt detect it. The installation 15 years ago was carried out by a very large British company  ???
Poor workmanship by them.
