Beautiful Delia Parsnip recipe
« on: December 30, 2013, 09:52 »
YUM! My dear friends served me the most wonderful parsnips on Christmas Day - rolled in flour and parmesan - gorgeous. So nice I looked up the recipe online and baked them again yesterday. If I am allowed to repeat a Delia recipe here, I will. If not, look it up online under her Christmas recipes. The best thing is you can prepare a huge batch and then freeze them

Thoroughly recommended!
small, Welsh and almost certainly bonkers, but can be tamed with Talisker, if required

that's it mum! It really is gorgeous. I imagine you could also add in things like paprika or cayenne or mustard powder.

Mmmm, interesting, will look that one up.  Does the flour make them much higher in calories though?  :(

It's okay to repeat recipes on here, as long as you give the credit to the website or people where you got the recipe.

o repeat away, we are always grateful for new ideas!  ;) ;)

well yes, I guess it does ramp up the calorie content - but as an occasional treat - lovely. The parsnip - earlier dug from the lottie - was practically liquid inside the crunchy outer.

I've heard other people say they liked them, but the one year my mum tried them none of us ate them - we really hated them (it's gone down in the Yorkie family annals as a Christmas disaster!!  :D )  Hope you enjoy cooking them!
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I am on the side of Delia here. I have been doing our Christmas parsnips this way for a few years now and they are always a hit. i do think its is important to get the snips well covered with the cheese and flour and also to have really hot oil before you put them in. Otherwise it is simples.
