Thanks for the kindness. It's been hard the last month, seeing her going downhill. I so hoped on Saturday things were levelling if not improving a little. I couldn't see her bewildered and upset. The vet agreed we'd reached the end of the road and the receptionist commented that they all hoped we'd have more time.
Because they're operating an animal only policy inside she came out to the car so we minimised any distress. Initially she gave her a sedative and she relaxed and drifted off to sleep in minutes in my arms before the vet gave the other injection - still in my arms.
Not the first time we've lost a pal but it never gets easier.
