Swedes ahoy!
« on: September 09, 2017, 14:17 »
As some may know on here, my swede growing is variable at best and I have made people quite scared before by posting pictures of my gnarled, misshapen crop.

No danger this year.  Look what I found under the net tunnel today and I have quite a few this size   8)  I'm so chuffed  :D

Well done, mine went in rather late and it has been so dry here, so I'm not sure I'll get anything worth eating

I've never yet managed to grow a decent swede, and if I don't manage this year, I'll use the ground for something else.  I haven't had chance to check yet, but if I've got anything as good as yours New Shoot, I'll be well chuffed.

I must check mine out tomorrow in case there si something to eat there. Or do you leave them until the cold weather?

[Question from a previously failed swede-grower. Can you tell? ]

You can eat them as soon as they are big enough, or just leave them in the ground and eat them over winter, as I do :) They will grow slowly over winter as long as it doesn't turn Arctic

Thank you MoS.

I had a little look this morning and there are a few that look like they may be edible size, but we have plenty to eat right now so will leave them in the ground for a bit longer and hope they do expand further
