Curly broad beans
« on: July 10, 2011, 16:54 »
I have quite a good crop from my Aquadulce Longpod broad beans, and picked 1kg from them this morning.  However as I was picking them, I noticed that some of the later pods yet to be picked from a couple of the plants seemed to be curling up on themselves quite tightly in a circle, although they seem to be large enough.

Does anybody have any idea what could be the cause?

They don't have blackfly at all as I pinched the tops out.  The foliage is all quite healthy.

One thing that comes to mind, most common, all sorts of injuries can cause this. From bugs chewing to weather damage. They are usually good in this case. Ie., will have edible beans, even if less. But do have a look inside!
