Title: Water water every ____
Post by: Caretaker on November 03, 2008, 19:26
We have a water trougth that is fed by mains water, we are not allowed to fix hose pipes to it but they do turn a blind eye to sythening off with a hose to a water butt.
I have 4 butts fed with one pipe that T off from the main pipe.
It is time to change the hose pipes as they are old and I keep cutting them with the mower.
Now the tricky bit, my plot is on a small slop that runs down hill, thats the good bit, now how to stop cutting the hose with the mower.
I could put it under ground, sounds like hard work but possible.
Is there any bigger and better hose than the garden hose?
Should I put the 4 butts all together and not spread them all the way to the bottom of the plot, less hose to chop up.
I find the water in the butts age and the plants like that better than strait mains water.
PS. can we have a spell checker?

I link all my butts together with siphons - water finds its own level after all. Saves a lot of trailing watering cans about.

You can get a 22mm hose from suppliers. This is the stuff used commercially by nurseries and grounds keepers.

Could you not modify the blue plastic pipes that the water board use?
