I've bought this book today Getting Started with Chickens, by Practical Poultry and want to recommend it.  It's got everything in there that you need to know very good.

Hi
I'm at the point where I'm about six months into keping hens so I know the basic stuff that my book has.  I'm now looking for the next stage so a book about worming, basic illness etc etc.  Any ideas?
I'd be grateful. x

I'm a big book horder.

I've wanted hens for about 3 or 4 years and over that time I must have got about a dozen books.  I always rate the practical poultry ones and Katie Thear ones as well and I've also picked up Practical Poultry magazines whenever I wanted to push the point home or thought I could get away with it.

I've subscribed this year and wouldn't be without it.  Given the chance I can read it from cover to cover in about 2 days flat, including most of the adverts as well.  The other magazine I love is Smallholder, which always has a poultry section and I've always picked a copy of this up just for general interest.

One day I will live on a smallholding :)  If I keep telling myself it surly has to happen. :D
