A why question.
« on: August 04, 2008, 09:53 »
Why do we clip the wings of our hens?  If they were kept in a run I can understand it you dont want them to get out.  But if they are free range why would you want to clip them? It gives them better ability to get away from danger  and yes I have thought that they then can get easily away from you.   The reason I ask my 3 new girls are a bit flighty when being chased by the ex batts and big speck.

WHY DID YOU PUT THOSE NEW GIRLS IN HERE? I AM GONNA PECK YA.
Stuart

Dont worry I am just paranoid duckie.

If I get the wrong end of the stick its because I have speed read. Honest.

Blar blar blar blar snorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre.

to stop them leaving home  :D

Your place looks brill  :D   I was in rural Lancs a few months ago when I went to Morecambe. I enjoyed the route back via the Forest of Bowland.   Never even heard of it so glad we went off the beaten track  :D

The netting is just there till they know where home is. I dont think that will be a problem as they wont come out of the coop when the X batts and Speck are about!!!!!!!!!!!

The  Forest of Bowland is a big area and it is a AONB we are just inside the Pendle Hill (SOUTH)part of  the AONB and yes it is lovely. You get used to it after awhile until some one reminds you.

Sorry TMG was posting when you posted.  The land at the back is owned by neighbour and they are not bothered about roaming chucks as they dont eat as much grass as sheep.  The ex batts and Spec have travelled as much as approx 80m from the coop. But at the moment they are having fun on the muck heap and have stopped roaming well for a few days.
