Hi all... I went into the henhouse tonight and one of the girls had laid any egg... nothing strange in that you might think, but it lookded very odd... It was covered in what I can only describe as chalk, not the whole egg, but quite a lot :(
The girls have not laid since last Sunday, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it, previous to that they have laid daily for the past 2 weeks or so.
Any idea's anyone??

Hi andy.
There's an article by Katie Thear on this very forum HERE (http://www.poultry.allotment-garden.org/Chicken_a/egg_shell_color/pale-eggs.php) that explains about eggshells.
It is normal to get the odd egg with excess calcium deposits but it's something to watch for. She may want some extra calcium in her diet if she's depositing more than normal.

It's well worth looking at the articles in that section. Katie Thear knows her stuff. :)
