Title: Harvesting PSB
Post by: someoneorother on November 13, 2010, 16:35
As my PSB has finally made a belated appearance, I have a question about how to harvets it.

I know you cut the main head, then the side ones as they get big enough. However, how much stem should you take with the head? Since on all of mine if I take more than about half an inch I end up cutting off a load of mini heads that are yet to grow, if you see what I mean. Does this matter or not? Should I just cut the side shoots back to the main stem and not worry about the lost mini-heads, or should I just cut back to just above the new heads already forming on the side shoots?

I cut mine to just above the mini heads, so that I can eat these as well in a little while :)
Otherwise it can take a long while for the plant to recover

Okay, thanks.

Have decided to compromise and cut back about halfway to the main stem so I get a bit more than half an inch of stem without sacrificing too many of the mini-heads :)
