Well our chicks are finally here (Bantams).... We had them of a friend and had to wait for them being ready/old enough to be away from mum and their feathers grown but at last the wait is over.... Got them for our two children boy 8 & girl 5.... They are so excited and love it.. Although not laying yet the kids are out watching them with fascination.... They are approx 6wks old... We got them yesterday and surprisingly they settled really quick... We just hope that we have girls!!!! lol.. Will post pics soon (When work out how.. Lol)   


1 more thing..... What cant Chick(ens) eat???

How lovely to have chicks for your kids. 
Chicks at 6 weeks should be on chick crumbs.  You can get medicated or unmedicated types.  When they get older you gradually change them to growers pellets then layers pellets.
How many chicks did you get and what breed?

I hope your children have a lot of patience, as there is little hope your chicks will lay this year

For the moment your chicks need to eat chick crumbs, and grass if they are out in the garden.  They are too young to really deal with any "treats" unless self caught.

How many chicks do you have?  What is the weather like where you are at the moment?

They are actually older than 6wks (people have said they are bigger than 6wks).... Person we got them from said 6wks and he gave us feed to last us for couple wks (mixture of pellets and mixed corn) which hes been feeding them for couple wks... Not sure on breed just that they are Bantams (maybe the pics will tell breed and a more precise age from you experienced peeps)... Im a complete novice please bear with me... Lol. We got 5.. Kids have named them.. Pure Black (Sooty), Pure white (Snowy), White with brown chest is (Smiley), Brown and Black (Stripe) and White with spotted light brown back (Speckles)    

Its raining here in Somerset today... was really sunny and warm this morning
