with a dollop of Guinness HP sauce  ;)

Ooh now! Isn't that just brilliant stuff?  :D

I have it with EVERYTHING! .... I use it on sandwiches instead of branston and it's great squirted in gravy

It says it makes a good marinade for beef and pork too. I can vouch for the pork and its great on chicken! And in bacon sandwiches, of course. :)

Drat, bought some last week to send up to Scotland with husband for youngest daughter to enjoy and it was only BOGOF.  I feel cheated.   >:(

Will have to buy some for myself this time.

Before anyone asks, no he didn't just go to Scotland to take the cheese.   :tongue2:

I had a cheese issue the other day when I had cheese on toast with extra mature cheddar. It slid right off the toast and into the grill pan. I was gutted   I blame the EU

Quite right. :) We can buy it here as implied by my earlier post. :D

On the cheese front, I won't make it to Tesco in time but have a fridge full already...  :nowink:

Much as it grieves me to shop at trashco I'm going to get some at that price.  Keeps well in the freezer, just a bit more crumbly when it's defrosted.

I've never frozen cheese before, do you only freeze if its grated?

My Mum used to freeze it in blocks. As Ice says, the consistency/texture changes a bit.

12 just gone in the freezer, just simply had to pop in on the way to and back from the plot.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I've frozen blocks of cheese in the past, when they've been defrosted the texture hasn't been right making it difficult to slice, I would grate it before freezing.

I was watching our local 'celebrity' chef on tv the other night. He made pea soup and popped in an odd bit of dried up cheese. I must try that, yet another idea for the odd leftovers.

parmesan rinds are very good used in this way in soups and casseroles, just freeze them when you get to the end of the wedge. Then they are handy when you need them :)
