So on my way to the plot on Tuesday lunch time for 45 mins and see the fellas planting out the round about, stopped and asked what they do with there pots and trays when they are done.

You got it they gave me about 25 trays with all the pots i think  i am not going to count. Will last me for years i would think.

I had similar good fortune. The chap living next-door to my parents delivers for a local wholesale nursery. He was only too pleased to supply several trays and pots to fit.... many more if I wanted them as the company are pleased to have another way of disposing of them.

18 months ago I stopped and asked the workmen at School if I could have a section of the School's fence.

They were more than happy for me to remove as much as I could as it saved them having to dispose of it.

I now have a few metres of very hefty galvanied wire mesh on the plots. It makes great crop protectors, will last as long as me I suspect and is a reminder of some great days.

Last week I got about 300 pots and a load of trays from work all for free from where they were planting up all the planters and beds. They were all the good quality sturdy ones as well.

We've asked people with skips before, and had all sorts from carpet, to wood scraps, wheels, pots, trays etc

We even found a fly-tipped push lawnmower once which was really good. - we didn't have to ask for that!

hi all i build play grounds all over england please stop and ask for pallets we often have leftover mesh as well   a lot of the pallets are 12ft long  its  a wast to put them in a skip so just ask it could be me ok thanks bob

Left over mesh!!! Wow.

I have three 4' pieces and it's brilliant for protecting crops from pigeons and foxes!
If you're ever heading to West Sussex please let me know. You'll have quite a following on here I bet.
