Title: CAULIFLOWER HEADS
Post by: BARNACLE BILL on August 05, 2016, 20:17
Hi

I went to the plot today and noticed the cauliflower heads have grown to a decent size. They seem to have doubled in size this last week. However I noticed that they are covered with a purple hue. Almost as if blackcurrent had been spilled on them. Its not been very sunny as I have read that you need to cover the heads with leaves in bright sunshine.

It's almost definitely the sun that has caused this. Get some washing pegs (plastic ones) and clip the leaves together over the top of the heads.

Watch out though, it doesn't take long for a caulie to go over from a nice tight head to a seedy looking one. It can happen in a day.
