Title: Mavis has passed away!
Post by: wighty on January 30, 2024, 17:34
I took  a cutting from a money plant from an old lady I used to look after, called Mavis.  The plant really took off and out grew  out of any pot I put it in.  I kept repotting it and it really flourished.  I noticed it was drooping so put it outside in some 'gentle' rain earlier this year but forgot about it.  It's been out now through a few  frosts  and although I've brought her in she's not looking very healthy.  I'm not too bothered as I have a couple of her 'children' that I can plant in her place.  I do though feel a bit 'guilty'.

Is this Lunaria biennis  or L. annua?  Not to worry or feel guilty, those are either annual or biennial, so it might just be their life cycle.

There are some other plants often called money plant, including indoor plants.  Maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree.  Or maybe I'm just barking...

I think we’re all a bit barmy.  I have a Monkey Cup pitcher plant called Mildred.

I had to look up "monkey cup pitcher plant".  Nepenthes genus!  A friend grows them as a hobby, he has one with pitchers that are easily a pint in size, maybe a quart!  Different species though.

Mavis's 'children', all three of them are thriving, thank you Auntie, and are soon going to have to leave 'the nursery' and join 'big school' and be seperated into their own pots.  I'll run out of pots this rate!
