I found mine t'other day with yellow lower leaves (otherwise healthy, but fallen off) and something that looked like thready veins under the 'skin' of the stalks.

Any ideas bearing in mind I've never seen a growing brussels sprout plant before!

If it's just the lower leaves, sounds about normal to me! The veins are how the leaf is constructed.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

The veins were inside the stem around the top leaves.  It's probably nothing but I'm becoming suddenly very protective of my green babies.

Munty is it possible that the plant is suffering from Magnesium Deficiency.

Its just that with all the rain the soil may be short of nutrients, and a good feed might put the soil to rights. A good mulitonic might be called for.

you could well be right matey feeding now with commercial rapid feed ferts would probably make the sprouts bolt as they contain a high portion of nitrogen ,id suggest a sprinkling of ground hoof and horn slow release   .stick it in the blender .spread  a teaspoon around each plant . this may well benefit them ,,,, good thinking mk

Epsom salts for a quick boost of magnesium will also help.

I did give them some sulphate of ammonia before (the box with the cabbages on the side), and on some of them I cut the top leaves off as per mkhenry's handy hint no.?.  It hasn't rained yet since I sprinkled it so I could sweep it away.

But the main thing is that it's not a disease, and the 'veins' are normal.  Thanks chaps.

Just water it in high in nitrogen for leafy growth.

Aha!  I did try looking in "information" but just got stuff about potatoes.  Thanks.  It may well be easier to grow a crop of potatoes than post one blessed picture (for me).
