i have savoy cabbage to put i, should i cover them with one of those plastic tunnels to keep them warmer through winter

it depends on what variety your talking about
rigoletto sow in april march  cut in jan march very tuff plant
capriccio sow it april march  cut it in august throutgh to october great in hard condions
tarvoy sow april may plane em out in may june curt em in ddecember to april the tuffest of the tuff this one
most savoys wil stand the winter in this country
still alive /............

just looking at ur post agian u say you have them to put in? meaning sow or plants as both of these are at the wrong time to be done .... you may get away with the plants as these would mature later in eth season giving you some cabbages to cut right into may and june before the summer cabbages but i would forget sowing seed until spring now  :wink:  :D
