I planted new plants from a neighbour's strawberry patch in March. They are growing well and now have flowers and small strawberries forming. Do I need to remove the flowers this year so they do not crop? Am finding conflicting info.

I didn't in their first year, and mine are still fine. 

I think its more important to feed and water well to make sure they fruit well long term.

I removed mine in their first year, well, apart from a couple just to check for flavour you understand  !

No need, they'll be fine. They're tough as old boots.

Dont worry about the fruit but cut off the runners they will send out. Do this for the first 2 years it will give them chance to put all their efforts into growing and establishing.

In year 3 let the runners grow and use them to replace the original plants for year 4.

I have just let mine grow away, they are now looking as healthy as ever in there 3rd year
