my partners just arrived with a hug bag of discovery apples which don't keep, does any one make apple rings with out a dehydrator. I could light the stove in the kitchen. Do you coat them to stop the browning please?

http://tipnut.com/dry-apples/       Here's an easy way in the oven.

Folk in my area will string them up (spaced apart slightly) and stretch them above wood cookstoves for warmth. First, a quick dip in some water with a good squirt of lemon juice will stop the yellowing.

Thanks i'll have a go tomorrow, already made some plum fruit leathers will try black berries as well tomorrow.

Just had another idea I could cook a few and make hedgerow fruit leather they would add sweetness without sugar.

I have made these by drying them in the oven , separated on trays. Takes about 6hrs at low temp for rings 1/4 com thick (longer and they are crispy, but still nice)

I soak them in brine for 5mins first and then pat them dry.  :D
