as the title says really i want to keep some quail and was told a rabbit hutch would be an ideal home for them, not kept them before but have a rabbit hutch, standard size and a run of about 3 metre square and wanted to know how many i could keep in the space?

I'm no expert as I have only had mine for 6 weeks but that i keep mine in a rabbit hutch which was what was recommended to me. Mine is a little crowded at the moment as there are 12 in a 5' by 2' hutch but will go down as the males declare themselves and are moved out.

Horrifyingly DEFRA states that the minimum area per quail should be 145 cm². That would mean having 63 in my hutch!!!

Hopefully someone who knows more will be able to give you more advice.

i think i may go for it then i am only looking at around 6 birds so i think that the space i have should be sufficient.
