I plan to grow a lot more strawberries this year(well, more than the 4or 5 i managed last year)and i think i,m gonna need all the help i can get.
  Are there any strict rules i should be following to ensure a decent crop this year?
  Also whats your opinion on where to grow?Containers, baskets or anything else?

I throw them in and hope, seems to work for me.

we have two beds now and they are all doing fine

I have a third bed for alpine strawberries and I prefer them although they never get off the plot before being gobbled up

One absolute rule with them is replant them at the same level they grew at, never deeper or higher. Where you see the soil line on the plant is exactly the height it likes to go back in. Too high and the roots quickly dry out, too low and the crown rots quickly.
As for cropping this year, its not likely you'll get much from newly planted ones. They need a year to develop roots to put out the fruit so next year is your big crop. Plants in baskets and such might crop this year but quickly deplete nutrients from their small enclosures and the plants are basically rubbish after that.
