well ive fixed it only took ten mins and i still have all my fingers
how did i do it?
1/ removed 4xscrews from th started housing.
2/ removed the knot and what was left of the cord from the disc in the houseing
3/ retensioned the spring by winding it till it felt right (sorry did not count the turns)
4/ held the disc in place by jaming a screwdriver between the housing and the disc (with a little care)
5/ cut the end of the cord and melted it to stop it falling apart
6/ put a thin bit of wire through th hole in the disc and out of the housing this was then wraped around the cord for about 6''  then holding the wir to the cord with one hand pulled the other end of the wire to draw the card back into the disc
7/ remove the wire put a firm knot on the end of the cord and seat the knot in the disc
8/ remove the screwdriver and let the spring pull the cord back in
9/ refitt the housing
jobs done
