Who after Wilko.
« on: November 26, 2023, 16:40 »
I'm hoping this is in the right forum, please feel free to move it.

I used to buy quite a lot from Wilko. Spuds, onion sets, garlic.
Their seeds were always good value as was their compost although the quality was variable.

I must admit I haven't done any research yet, but where else would you go now that they've gone.
I hate paying P&P  :)

Look around locally for a garden club or allotment association, they might have a members store

I've had all my seeds from T&M for next season most  89pence per packet so even with p&p worked out cheaper than wilcos that was. You just need to keep your eyes peeled as they put the offers one when least expected

If you are willing to take a risk, Premier Seeds can be good - not expensive but no instructions on the packets. Price has gone up this year. Some of our plot holders have used them and are happy.

I buy a lot of seeds from Lidl, particularly peas and beans. They are currently selling off stock at 20p if you’re quick. I have also seen onion sets in there, but usually only for a week. I tend to use B&Q for stuff like onion sets and potatoes or a local garden centre, but I need to make a special trip for the garden centre and always seem to just miss the potatoes/onions whereas I’m a regular in B&Q.

Thanks all, there is a Range near so worth a look. Our Lidl never seems to have anything in the way of sets but I have bought seeds there.
There is also a Squires which have garlic listed and onion sets fairly reasonable £1.99. but not in stock yet.
All these are only a 5min detour to and from work.
Thanks for the suggestions, all is well in Rocket world  :)
