Hi, Just wondered if any one has grown winter tares before, i planted mine end of September, they don't seem to be growing much? Do I leave them and hope for the best... any suggestions😁

What are winter tares? A green manure? I know they are used by anglers as a bait, but never thought of growing them. When do you harvest them?

They are a green manure....and if they grow incorporate into the soil in spring🤔

We tried winter tares last year... they are a vetch. I should have sown them much more thickly as they were too spindly to give much actual cover to the ground, so plenty of weeds can up amongst them. Chopped the whole lot, weeds ad all, down in a mild spell in Winter, took out perennial roots and left it as a mulch.
