We've cut back overall on salt so much that I now prefer to eat unsalted butter on toast and such.

Tosca, you might have to borrow a cow now and then and make your own butter  :D

I have done a bit. But there is little cream on the raw milk I get and for some reason cream is very hard to come by. By the time I have enough to make a tiny pat of butter it is ever so slightly rancid, but still better than anything in the shops, which doesn't have a high turn over so being unsalted that always tastes a bit stale anyway. The best I have found is German from a German supermarket, but you have to freeze it as it doesn't keep. I only use it for cooking and OH's toast.

Whatever's on offer for cooking, but Lurpak for spreading.  :tongue2:

For spreading, I love the taste of President. I know it's French but it's so good  :tongue2:  Not that I eat it much cos I don't as if I started I wouldn't stop

Im getting the feeling the answer is "whatever's cheap"  ;) Which is my favourite answer to most things.

Tosca - can't you order some online for delivery? Im sure someone must deliver over there, just so you can stock up on your essentials.

Lardman, some supermarkets do deliver to Eastern Europe, but not yet to Bulgaria. We have seen Trashco vans over the border in Romania in the north, and Greece is no problem in the south. They used to deliver clothes etc to Bulgaria but I am not sure it took off. Clothes here are much cheaper.

I will get used to it...one day. Till then I will have the occasional winge! My waistline has shrunk, which is a big thing.

I go for what ever is cheap!

I found the president stuff creamed well and went extra pale.

I find Kerrygold too soft for making shortbread.

But otherwise I haven't found much in it!

Unsalted, either Tescos or Morrisons (which I prefer as it tastes like President).  I have found I can eat butter although I have to be dairy free normally. I think it's because you use so little of it, if I do overdo it,( usually on crumpets  :D) then I have to put up with the resulting tummy ache.

Salted Toscos - although I have 1 block of half salt to see if it tastes ok.

We don't often use butter, but it is nice on toast and crumpets. Otherwise, it's a cooking/baking ingredient.
We generally use Clover :)
