Title: Growing geraniums from seeds collected from plants
Post by: Oliveview on May 28, 2006, 10:21
Do they grow true to the parent or am I as well off going to buy a new packet of seeds?  Noticed a few of the flowers have thrown up seed heads and I´ve chopped them off, just wondering if it is worth trying to save the seeds when they ripen (will leave the next lot on the plant)

Could be fun to find out?
Maybe you'll end up with a fantastic new variety.

I grew geraniums from seed( paclet)  about 5 years ago, as far as I know (up to a couple of months ago) the plants were still alive.  Grown in a large tub, when we left the UK Aug 04  they had over 100 flowerheads on.  I gave the tub to a neighbour and he still has them going strong as far as I know.  Cuttings have been taken just incase!
