Title: Another Mobile SMS scam
Post by: DanielCoffey on October 11, 2020, 14:30
Here is another one for our mobile phone users to watch out for...

Today I received an SMS text message pretending to be from my phone provider (O2) saying the following...

"02: Payment for your latest bill could not be processed by your bank. Please update your payment information via <fake address beginning with 02.billmanager.blahblah>"

The clever part of this is that I AM an O2 customer (but not an 02 customer - look closely) and today IS the bill renewal day for my Direct Debit.

NEVER click on these links. Always sign into the main mobile provider portal (such as My O2 in my case) and check your account there. This is a phishing scam hoping to trick me into giving my payment details.

O2 suggest you forward the suspicious message to their spam team at 7726 and they will deal with it.
