Title: Sweet Chestnuts
Post by: jennyb on October 10, 2006, 15:03
i found a recipe for chestnut jam (now have 2 and a half jars of that!)  i kept some of the hole and have stored them in another jar (saw them like that in tesco)

if i went and collected some more what else could i make?

however i'm not sure i have the energy or strength left in my fingers - peeling chestnuts hurts after a while!!

i have very weak and thin nail and they basically bent back and ripped when i was trying to peel them - so i carried on using a knife in the end.

not sure i got the roasting right either - some worked and some didn't,  some took a bit longer etc but i think that one of those things.

as i'm now feeling very lazy,  i'll see if taking a photo of it works (its only small) and will post it on my blog for you!! i'll put a link here for you.

tastes very sweet but nice tho!

here's the photo of the recipe and a picture of the cover of the little book it came from.

the finished article doens't look so attractive but tastes good!
