1.5kg plums
500g cooking apples
2 oranges
200g dried figs finely chopped
100g dried cranberries
1tsp ground ginger
1tsp ground cinnamon
300ml red wine vinegar
500g demerara sugar

Halve the plums and remove the stone
peal core and dice the apples
Finely grate the zest from the oranges and squeeze the juice into a large pan with the plums and diced apples.

Add the figs, cranberries and spices, along with vinegar and sugar, stir until sugar has disolved.

Simmer until thick and syrupy.

Jar, label and eat

Just finished making a batch and oh my it smells divine, my house smells really christmassy and I can wait to try it, I was a few figs short as they taste so goooooooood

i'm wanting to give some of my chutney to my parents, only since it was my first ever batch i'm getting paranoid that i haven't sterilised properly or something and my chutney will end up killing someone  perhaps i should test it on someone annoying at work first.

I'd never made a jar of chutney until this year - now I'm obsessed, I just love it.  I sold a bunch a while back for a fundraiser, my neighbours really enjoyed them and have placed loads of orders for Christmas Presents.  I've packaged them up in little jute gift bags and they look lovely.  :)

It's nice to have something creative to do when you cant get out into the garden.
Are we nearly there yet?

I made loads of HFW's Gluttoney Chutney and it's gorgeous. I stirred some into a sausage casserole to give it some spice and it worked really well

Your chutters looks delish. Your plums I hope  :D   if not, maybe next year  :D
