Well the kettle turned up this morning, ordered Friday so that pretty good, £40 inc. delivery for the 1 pint size, large thermos flask sort of size.
Fired it up and got boiling water in under 5 minutes. I used some old pinewood that was in the garage, chopped it up small, bout pencil thickness, once the fire got going just dropped a few in the chimney untill the water boiled.
They say you can burn just about anything, so old raspberry canes, bits of twigs and brocken bamboo canes up on the plot should suffice.
Have to say I am impressed, we have a camping gas single burner in the shed on the plot and it takes a lot longer to boil the kettle for a brew, plus you never know when the gas is going to run out.
I know 40 quid is a lot for one but I think I'll get me money's worth. They're a few different makes out their and they all seem roughly the same price, don't think they'll be much difference performance wise.
There's plenty of videos on you-tube of people using them to give anyone an idea of what I'm going on about so if you like a brew on the plot and want something other than a gas stove have a look.
