my dad uses one when he goes out fishing on the lake -- stops on an island for his lunch; it is VERY quick!

Is the axe an essential part of the set-up?
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

yes and for 2 reasons.

1. To chop wood for the kettle
2. To ward off would be cowans who would steal your kettle as it is a most desirable item

Excellent idea.  My burner's good but runs out of gas fairly quickly.  The storm kettle looks much more fun.

mine is fab for when im ferreting and need a hot cuppa .i use a candle of sawdust and meths in a brick to heat mine .take a toilet roll and fill with sawdust and a little wood glue mixed in .. or wallpaper paste .allow to dry hard put a little meths on one end .light and put in the hole .when u have hot water just pull the remains out ,blow out the flame n ready to go again :wink:  :wink:
