Hi
We are new here today, we need your help?
We want to buy 3 chicks for egg production in the back garden, they must be small, quiet and friendly.
Any breeds come to mind? we thought of the little brown ones lol.
Help Appreciated

Not that I have chicken (have you thought of ducks ;)) but I think that most people think of warrens / Isa browns when they think of standard laying chickens.
I think you should get bluebelles and post loads of pictures as I just don't have room for any.
Welcome to the Hen House!

If you read a few of the articles here...

...it contains some of the basics and pitfalls to avoid. :)
I hope it helps and please keep asking the questions.

:D That's just the basics !! :D
Be selective but it should give you an idea of some of the main things to consider before embarking on the journey to chicken heaven. :)

Welcome! I have 8 girlies 1 blubelle(grey), 1 blackrock(black), 1 amberlink(white), 3 babcocks (mahogany brown colour), 2 goldlines (little red hens!) my 2 little red hens are my best layers and my babcocks are very pretty! they are all hybrids, bred for egg laying ability! but are all very friendly and dont make much noise

Thanks chickenlady, the reply you gave solved all the problems, (Goldlines) were exactly what we were looking for, we are collecting 3 girls from Cotswold Chickens on Tuesday and will attach a pic soon. the coop is built, the food is in the cupboard just need the birds.
Thanks again
