when my flowers have died how do i cut them back. never had lillies before they look gorgeous but the flowers are beginning to die. help

I always just chop them off just below the flower.

And once all the flowers on a plant are finished, cut off the flowering stem part to just below the main stalk. Then add a bit of compost around each plant base to feed for next year. Sadly, lily flowers don't last more than a week.

What sort of lilies are you growing, Arland? Many of the 'Orientals' and particularly Regale are very heavily scented. I usually cut a few and bring them inside. When we come down the steps in the morning it is like descending into a bath of scent.
