Title: Why is it just before Christmas...
Post by: Casey76 on December 14, 2010, 12:53
Everything goes wrong?

The community gardener came round yesterday to "trim" my boundry hedge as it was overhanging the watercourse (I didn't even think it was "my" hedge... but you learn something new all the time!)

OMG, the hedge is scalped.  There is no depth to it, and when I've tidied up my side of it, it will only be about 4' high - the only think is, is that it is the boundry of my chicken pen.  any sensible chicken would laugh in the face of such a palty boundry... not to mention 4-legged predators.  It also means that everyone across the road can now see directly into my garden.

fortunately I do have some left-over fencing that I can use as a temporary measure until I get back from holiday, but I'm going to have to buy a "proper" fence as soon as I can, otherwise any new hens i get next year, will probably go galivanting as soon as they can!

Maybe it's just my hens, but I find they don't try and get over the hedge (about 4') but they will flap up onto a fence and off down the other side.
