Hi all i have a small strip of soil running along my side passage way and wanted to plant some small perenials in there as its only 10" wide.
The problem i have is it is mainly in the shade and only gets a few hours of sun each day if that.
Can anyone suggest something suitable i could plant please?
I only really want to plant 5 or 6 plants and dont want to create a border...
thanks all :) :) :)

What about London Pride(saxifraga x urbium). It will cover the ground and spread indefinetly which will be fine if you want to fill the plot up and will give you lovely sprays of airy flowers in spring

candelabra primulas or primroses?
Let a large leaved variegated Ivy trail along the bed.
-
Epimediums, variegated nettle, vincas, (all cope with dry shade); heucheras, hostas, perennial geraniums, primulas, ferns, box - to name but some that like moister conditions.

Hostas, Geraniums, Tulips, Ferns would all look lovely and suit a shady area.

Wild garlic loves the shade, (and is edible) but does then die back over the summer.
Then stick some french marigolds in, they cope well with abuse, and you can eat the flowers!
