easibed in nesting boxes?
« on: February 10, 2010, 12:23 »
hi, i thought i'd give easibed a try in my chicken house. should i put it in the nesting boxes as well or stick to straw there? also they keep knocking their perches down, they seem quite happy all huddled together on the floor. are perches necessary? any advice would be appreciated

You can put easibed in their nesting box, prob no need for straw aswell. As for the perches, can't you secure them, ideally your birds should want to perch, chickens poo alot in the night and you don't want them sitting in it.

i use easibed and hemcore in the coop and the nestboxes, i never use straw, i was advised not to as if it gets damp it can have mould inside it, easibed is fine for the chucks in the nest boxes.

mine perch so that they dont get dirty rear ends, as they do poo a lot at night, a quick poop scoop in the morning is easy if there is some easibed or hemcore under them
