Title: Tesco Bargain!!!
Post by: green gnome on February 19, 2011, 10:52
Morning all, I don't know if this has been mentioned on here or not but I thought I'd add a post.

My local Tesco store has just got their stock of fruit tree's in along with the rest of the gardening stock they normally get in ready for spring. Lots of varieties apple, pear, plum, cherry etc but I think whoever is in charge of their pricing system has made an error.
They are priced up in store at £7 but take them to the tills and yesterday they were going through at £3.50! Plus these are full size trees (or will be) not dwarf/container types! If there's a BOGOF promotion currently on I missed the signs so can only assume an error on their part. My local garden centre is selling fruit trees at £14.99, admittedly a little further advanced growth wise maybe a year or two but my 6 trees for the plot cost me £21 as oppose to £90!!!

If your looking for some trees for your plot might be worth a look at your local store.  :D :D :D

As alluded to, just make sure you are happy with the rootstock size - whether the tree will be OK in its intended location
