I think all animal eat into your heart and become loving companions, but horses in particular with how long they live become such huge parts of the family. They are lovely horses Wighty and thank you so much for sharing the photos x

Great to see these photos Wighty, and I can see why they are so special to you  :)

36 sounds a great age for a horse to reach -- must be very well cared for  :D

I'm not really a horsey person. I have been on one or two  along the way and got frit when they started cantering and nearly fell off   and one big brute stood on me foot once...blimey they is heavy!!!!

I'm very allergic to them now so I tend to keep away as much as possible . We have an equine course at  the College that I'm at, some of them are stunning!

I was surprised to read they live so long! I had no idea

Memories are great, even if you shed the odd tear ;).

this is humbug  better know as yummy   hes roughly 34 or 35 but could be older we just dont really know .

i was given to him by my farmer friend as humbug would not stay within the boundies of the farm he kept breaking lose onto large common land near me where  not one person could ever get near him so he would end up spending months looking ill an rough as his feet never got done because of that he became well known to the rspca . when i tok him on we had to get the rspca cheif inspector to come out and dart him it was the only way anyone would get near him ... now he is one very happy cuddly shetie who hates to be groomed an really really dont like his feet trimmed or picked out  . when the rspca were due to leave the farm the day he was caught i told the guy thats one less animal for them  to ever worry about , i could see the happiness on his face knowing that humbug was going to a great home .

p.s have to add thats one really bad pic of me and i have lost wieght since then

I really must go up in the loft and find the pics of Mercury and Pegasus the goats which I also have to keep down the nettles and other invasive vegetation. Looby your Yummy looks like Mercury. I have a  'borrowed' ride here on the Island called Turk so still keeping my hand in but prefer to use my 'skills' every other Sunday with the 'Riding For the Disabled'. I am a fully acredited (sp)  dressage judge.
