I've had great success the last two years with Sarpo Mira. Real heavy cropper. Skins are a bit hard when baked, but the same applies for the slugs - hardly a hole in them.

They are hold their integrity well when accidentally over boiled!

Seed spuds are more expensive than most, but I kept my own from last year and had a freebie crop.

Oh- and they are supposed to be highly blight resistant, buy fortunately that's not been put to the test.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I like Nicola potatoes for boilers/waxy potatoes. Lovely oval shape and the dirt just falls off them and they look all lovely right out of the ground, hardly any washing needed. Skins seem thin but the slugs didn't bother many of them.
I'm not sure I've found a good floury potato that isn't too floury... I seem to have grown all ones that need to be steamed or baked or else they just fall apart into nothing if you simmer them in water as gently as can be.
wistfully hoping to one day be mostly organic gardener in North London.

Hi guys,
I'm new round here. This was my first year with a veg plot and I grew Pentland Javelin. Seemed pretty good and I'm still eating them now :)

I'd go for Vivaldi, sold in a certain supermarket chain as "Butterless." Problem is that the supermarket chain has bought exclusive rights to the potato, so no certified seed potatoes to be had anywhere!
Bakes beautifully.
