Fox v Slugs
« on: March 23, 2010, 12:54 »
Whilst having a well earned break and sarnie in the shed, I noticed the resident fox arrive. I wasn't too pleased with him as he had eaten the entire contents of my runner brean trench.  However, he went about all of the empty beds digging up slugs!  He stayed for a good half an hour until he couldn't find any more.  Not much fun having him arround when the beds are full but he did a good job on the empty ones.

hmmm.. Interesting. I though fox didnt like slugs! but hey! the evolution of food chain does great wonders  ::).
I have seen a fox running around in the late evenings around our allotments. Thouht they were after bigger animals and I was scared of my slow worms being eaten.

Foxes eat what they can get - which means that they eat a lot of insects and earthworms.  Given that diet - you can see why a chicken is so very attractive to them!     Wish my resident fox would eat slugs ....  but at least he keeps the rabbits away.  I would think that they would have a very old, atavistic fear of snakes, to keep your slow worms safe.
