Can you identify chicks?
« on: August 06, 2011, 13:57 »
I've just hatched 11 chicks from 21 eggs which consisted of Speckled Sussex, Faverolle, Buff Sussex and two types of table birds: Hubbard 757 and Coloryield.  I know I've got one Faverolle because of the toes and feathering.

The photos are of three different chicks with very similar markings and I wondered whether anyone can identify them now?

Thanks  :)

Most of our 757's were all yellow, apart from 3 out of 60.  The Coloryields are browny coloured, but those ones are VERY similar Kerry!

I don't know what speckled sussex's and buff's look like when little though!  >:(

That's what I'm worried about!  If all 3 are Coloryield (and one isn't a Buff Sussex) that means out of 12 757/Cy mix I've got 10 table birds and from the 9 pure breed eggs (from a different supplier) I've only got the 1 Faverolle chick.  Which obviously means I've got a potential problem (unless I quickly unpack the incubator!  ::))

I agree CluckyChicken, and I really wanted a Speckled.  Still not sure about the Buff so I guess I'll have to wait a week and see how fast the table birds grow.  (Or get out the incubator...... I'm sooo tempted!)  ::)
