Wasps nests are invariably within 100 yards of where they feed on fruit.

To follow them watch where they vanish over your boundary and then go the other side and follow the line of flight. Alternatively tell your neighbour that they probably have a wasps nest.

You could catch one and tie a piece of cotton wool on it to make the job easier.

Have you read "My Family and Other Animals" by Gerald Durrell?

There is a wonderful description in there about "The Rosebeetle Man" who does something similar with.... rose beetles. Well worth a read if you have time.  ;)

You can make a simple wasp trap with a plastic bottle. just cut the top off where it first
tapers

put your jam or sugared water  in, then put the top back on inverted.

The neck half of a plastic bottle taped (or wedged) onto a cane or stick makes a good soft fruit picker.
If you cut a few slots in the rim it helps grip the stalk to twist it off the branch.

Keeps wapsies onboard at a safe distance for the initial picking. :)

you can always hang up in the tree a dummy wasp nest (called a Waspinator, made by STV)
wasps think this is a rival gang operating there and will leave the area as they do not operate in rival wasps territories, yes its true...
