Wont the Hen be lonely then NP ??

I think if it were me I would consider finding them both new homes so that I could concentrate on making the run :D

If you did that you could start again with the ducks in the spring when your larger run is ready :?

So the cockerel lives on it's own?   Does the other hen also live on it's own?  I'm getting confused.   :?

How big is their current run NP ?

It may be that they're getting bored in there.

NP I've never had a cock but my uncle used to have a banty cock and he was a s@d if you went near his girls, until my uncle picked him up and restrained him ( hugged him) it took weeks but in the end he was fine with everyone. It's like any animal they need to know who's boss if he feel's you are not up to it he will be. My uncle used to hand feed him titbits to just like he would for a female hen.

Keep trying and let them hens have a run round why your outside.  It helps know end when they can get out.

Ask for mesh on free cycle or similar .

 :D
He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.

Then I would guess that they are bored and sexually frustrated.

Probably better for you, less pressure and better for the birds. Sometime you just have to let go and scale back a little

NP, both Rob and I have asked how big a run they have to roam in and you haven't answered. If it is because you are a bit embarrassed about the smallness of the space, please don't be.  But if the space is too small, then that could be why he's been like he has with you.  Chickens need space, or they end up like the Polar Bears at London Zoo did, nuts!!!

Letting them have the back of the greenhouse sounds okay, how big a space are we talking about?  I have had chickens living in a greenhouse before now, but the door was always kept open with some wire across to stop them getting out if needed.  But greenhouses can still get very warm during the day, even in the autumn. So its not an ideal solution.

Have you tried freecycle for some wire to finish your new run?  or there's another one I heard about last week, dontdumpthat.com.  may be one near you.

Or is there someone else, a friend of family member that would look after your chickens until you can get your run finished?  You must think of their welfare.

But until you do, there is no way you should even contemplate paying out money you can't afford on peafowl eggs, when you haven't got your chicken run finished.
