Ok its Monday Paranoid here. The lady that produced the soft eggs "Little Speck" See this thread , that was on Friday, she has not laid since.  Tonight I have come home to five eggs from the new ex batts (arrived Sat) and one of the original girls.  The other girl is Quiet laying down out side (not unusual) and thought she might be panting.  Picked her up gently depressed her rear (egg bound) though would not know what it would feel like, but nothing large.  Put her down and she move out of arm distance and then she slept stood up. Its like she had a good night on the town and cant keep her eyes open.  Tail not pointing upward and slightly down.  Comb colour may be a tad redder than normal. Last thing she was doing last night was pecking an exbatt when i counted them in.  Any suggestions?

The long and short of it is, she is not her self.
Stuart

Dont worry I am just paranoid duckie.

If I get the wrong end of the stick its because I have speed read. Honest.

Blar blar blar blar snorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre.

I've just quickly skimmed through your other post Roughly, did you check  round her bottom when you had a look at her no wierd looking creepie crawlies or eggs???

I always ask as a week after getting a new lot earlier this year I discovered they were riddled with lice and this can put them off laying with no other obvious symptoms

Can't really suggest out else sorry  :?

Here's the thread on mites though so you know what to look for :)

Hmmm is she one of your original girls I presume in her first season?
It does sound like something is making her off colour and not herself.
Have they been wormed yet? A high worm load can make them unwell. I would also want to rule out redmite -have you checked at night with a torch? If you have them they will be like tiny crawling pinheads.
If she has been laying soft shells she will be feeling a bit miserable anyway until she starts laying again properly.
I would pop in some apple cider vinegar as a pick me up and add a little cod liver oil mixed with mixed corn to help absorb calcium. I think you already have oyster shell?
Keep us posted!

I have not wormed the two speckaldies I was going to wait till the Ex batts setalled in and on big sweep.
Red Mite should not be a problem as the coop is only two months old.
They have a cap and a half of cider vinegar in there water (its a one and half litre container.
I bought oyster shell but I think I was sold cockle shell, if you get my drift.  Went out side and she is grazing but not her self put her on my knee and took these photos but she actually when to sleep on my lap!!!!!! She is not a friendly type though so very amazed.  Oh does anyone know what the body temp of a chicken is? I have a digital thermometer from a petrol garage for £3 and with horses if they are off colour you can tell by taking there temp will start a separate thread for this.
Is this Yoke the yellow stuff?

mine go very quiet when a soft shell is on the way

depressed almost

Best thing I can suggest is make sure she has food, water and a warm bed an see how she is tomorrow.

Oh an you could try getting some lube round her bum just incase she's having problems, I use a baby animal feeding bottle teet goes in nicely

Really don't know what else to suggest ????
