When to put Christmas spuds in?

Here we are well into my first season but I would like to lnow when do you plant spuds that can be harvested for Christmas dinner?
Also were to buy the seed from and which variety to use please peebs  ;)

I didn't know about the sixty day thing... glad I read this as I want to try to keep some of the first earlies and grow in a bag in the greenhouse to get new pots for Christmas too

I have a load of those grow spud bag things. After my cahrlottes finish do you think i could use them to grow a later in the year crop in the leanto type conservatory?

Apparently Carllingford are a good variety to plant in potato bags in early August and then bring in to the greenhouse in early winter.  Haven't tried it though
