...Back from my trip to find happy hen.  Hensitter was found and all well.

As with dog it's surprising who is actually willing to help.

A lot of wild bird food/special treat food has been consumed and no much of layers pellets.  She's been spoilt!
One grandma and 4 baby Pekins.

If this sub zero weather persists you may need some more frequent visits to make sure her water hasn't frozen. I like the nightlight idea, surounded by bricks and with wire mesh and a paving slab on top, but my run has a thick layer of miscanthus so I'm concerned about fire risk.

BTW - Glad she's laying. I remember early posts when you feared she had past her laying days.

Where are you off to? Warmer climes I hope!

Oops - didn't realise there were 2 pages of posts and now you're back!!!

Thank you Bygrace.  Sailing in Tenerife - sunburnt peeling nose....

I did wonder about frozen water but as she lives in a shed with insulated walls and corotherm roof so less likely to freeze (I hope).  I training my sitter as well as I could (she is deaf) and she seems to have kept her water topped up alright.  She has two water optons neither of which can fall over.

She seems fine after a really harsh cold week.  Hensitters are priceless!

Yes she has surprised me egg wise.  Hope its a sign of good health etc.

I use a table food warmer with candle in so their is no chance of fire as it is all enclosed.  I put half a paving slab on top to distribute the heat and it works really well.   ;)
