Just leave them there. Unless there's too many once they split, in which case dig a few up, but give the leaves time to plump up the bulbs first.

Thanks Simon that is exactly what I thought but everyone is saying various thing, lift them, tie up the leaves, cut the leaves etc. My instinct was just to leave alone.

Yes just leave them. You can tie up the leaves into a bunch whilst the goodness is running back down into the bulbs but you don't have to, it just looks a bit neater perhaps then leaving them to fall over and droop. Matter of opinion and personal choice. :)

I leave mine as its far too much work to move them. The best thing is to simply snap off the finished flower head so they don't waste energy trying to seed. The leaves must stay intact to help feed the plant for next year.

The only reason for lifting bulbs is for public viewing beds so that the old, spent bulbs are gone so that the new spring flowers can be set in. Most often the finished bulbs are binned as they can't replenish their strength and the poorer show next year isn't worth the bother.

Our gardening expert on the local radio always advises not to tie them in a knot or to cut them off - just to take the seed heads off, as Trillium says.  Anything more will result in the bulb not getting maximum goodness from the leaves and flower stalk as they die off.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
